Appreciation of Chinese Music and Songs through Stories and Poems

Jiang Yazhen Chinese language teacher and enthusiastic singer wish to introduce you the world of Chinese music and songs.

The story of Yu Boya，who was a musician in the Spring and Autumn Period (more than 2000 years ago), can be known through appreciation of his classical piece "Flowing Rivers" ,played by the traditional Chinese musical instrument Guqin. Through appreciation of the pipa playing piece "Pipa xing", you would know the story of the ancient poem "Pipa xing"（or translated as "Song of a Pipa player"） written by Bai Juyi, a poet in Tang Dynasty. Through appreciation of the song "How long Will the Full Moon Appear", which is a poem named as Prelude to Water Melody, written by the famous poet Su Shi in 1076 AD in Song Dynasty,you will know the traditional Mid-Autumn Festival in China, and the poet's emotion expressed in the poem can be felt by understanding the meaning of the poem.
